Student Portfolio Submissions

A portfolio is an organized collection of creative work highlights someone's creativity, practical abilities, and critical thinking skills. Compass uses portfolios to document students' progress and celebrate their uniqueness.

Create a small portfolio to share with us. We're looking for 3 parts, which are explained below.

Please note that we're using your portfolio to learn about you as a person and as a learner. Have fun with it! If you have any questions about any part of it, don't hesitate to contact Brian.

Portfolio Submission 1: Sample of Work from a Class

Do you have a recent assignment or project from school that you feel represents you best? Artwork, presentations, video, and written projects are all options -- we’d love to see your recent work! Include with your submission a short statement (a paragraph or so) that explains why you've chosen it and how it represents you as a person or as a learner.

Portfolio Submission 2: Writing Sample

Compass School is a community where everyone knows each other well. Answer one of the following questions to help us get to know you. Your answers should be at least 3 paragraphs in length, but can be as long or short as you need to communicate your thoughts.

a. School isn't just for straight-A students or all-star athletes. There are many different types of successful students here and they have a huge variety of hobbies, skills, and interests. Think about your strengths and things you love to do, then tell us how you think they make you stand out in the world in a good way.

b. Compass is famous for delicious lunches. If you could go to lunch with any person, historical, fictional, past or present, who would it be and why?

Portfolio Submissions 3: Something Creative

Creative thinking is an important skill in the world!

Creative thinking skills include: problem solving, art of all kinds, original design, effective communication, and open-mindedness.

Share with us an example of creativity that is a reflection of yourself and how you view the world.

Don't hesitate to contact us at office@compass-school.org if you have any questions, or if you need help.
