Compass School presents Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night

Continuing their spring theater tradition, the Compass School players will present the beloved Shakespearean classic 12th Night the first weekend in April. The story involves mistaken identity and confused love as Viola (Julia Foster) and her shockingly similar twin brother Sebastian (Chris Timmons) each believe the other to have drowned in a shipwreck.

In typical Shakespearean fashion, there are countless plot twists, cases of mistaken identity, convoluted love interests, and not so subtle humor. A spirited cast carries the action, including NEYT veteran Aurora Phillips as Lady Olivia and Chris Diak as her frustrated pursuer Count Orsino.

Other cast members include Starcie Grout, Katherine Szuch, Meghan McGowan, Daniel Ewald, Brendan McPherson, Sean Hennigan and Muriel Chase. Andy Hauty and Ron BosLun co-direct the play, with Louise Van Order-Hodson on set and Amah Greenstein and Cher Anderson creating costumes.

In the end, almost everyone ends up happy, lots of couples are married, and only the embittered Malvolio is left in dismay. Good old Shakespeare, to be enjoyed by all.

Morning and afternoon in-school performances are scheduled for Thursday, April 2, with public performances scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at 7 PM and Sunday, April 5 at 2 PM. Ticket price is $6 for adults and $3 for children. For more information or reservations, please call Compass School at 463-2525, www.compass-school.org. The school is located off Route 5 just south of Bellows Falls.
