Compass Newsletter -- March 25, 2009

Middle School Trip to Sandglass Theater: On Friday, March 27, middle schoolers will head over to Sandglass Theater in Putney to meet Robert Karimi, the performer currently in residence there. We are incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to see part of Karimi's show, Self: The Remix, and to participate in a mini-workshop. Sandglass has kindly agreed to offer us admission to this event in exchange for a few Compass student and parent volunteers working at their Puppets in Paradise fundraising event on September 5th and 6th. Please contact Lauren (lauren@compass-school.org) if you'd like to fulfill some of your Compass volunteer hours by working at Sandglass Theater's wonderful event in September! Also, donations to Sandglass for Friday's performance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Listen to Our Radio Appearance

Senior Annelise Kloster, parent Marshall Glickman, and long range planning director Rick Gordon did a terrific job representing Compass on the Steve West show on WKVT AM1490 last week. You can listen to the podcasts of the show on the WKVT website: http://1490wkvt.com/Podcasts/2416488

LAST CALL: Governors Institutes- Applications are being accepted for this summer's Governors Institutes. These are 1-week or 2-week summer enrichment programs open to high school students who have finished 10th or 11th grade. (Sometimes they accept 9th graders.) We have had many students attend in the past and have always loved the experience. Great to have on the resume too! Programs are in Arts, Asian Cultures, Current Issues, Engineering, Information Tech., Math, and Science. Generous financial aid is usually available.  Application information available in the Compass office; applications due this Friday. See the Governors Institute website at http://www.giv.org/ .

Please return re-enrollment contracts for the 2009-2010 school year as soon as possible to secure your place at Compass. We are excited to be looking ahead to next year.
