Junior Trip to Ecuador

I watched the Compass School junior class start their packing for the trip to Ecuador, they leave on Thursday.  Nervous laughter filled the big room as each student checked the list, laid out t-shirts, socks, then folded and packed into their backpacks or luggage.  All are excited about the trip but still are nervous about traveling into a new country; "how will I be viewed", "will my Spanish be good or will people laugh at me", "what changes will occur while I am gone", "what kind of person will I be when I get back"?  The challenges are many for our young people today as they deal with our ever changing society.  I watch the Compass students as they move through the day, each day changes happen, each day they grow closer to becoming effective adults but right now, at this moment, they are young people on a mission, filled with laughter and fun, making memories that will carry for many years.

At the same time I watch another group of students preparing a living museum on the 60's.  i can't wait to watch them be my generation at that time; I think I will stand back and offer advice on how the 60's really were.  This is why I am involved in education, never a dull moment and never the same each day!  Come join me, it's fun!
