Sara's Day 1
When we got started we had computer challenges. Here is what Sara had to shre that never got posted.
"Today, most of us had been awake since 4:00am. So when we all got in the van, headed towards Hartford’s airport in Connecticut, there were a lot of tired faces. Thanks to Willy, we got to the airport with plenty of time for our 9:00 flight.
After a fairly routine trip through customs, (Burke did get the full body search!) we boarded our flight to Raleigh, Durham. It was a long flight, but the flight attendants were very friendly and provided us with many snacks and drinks.
After a long flight, our plane brought us to Tampa, Florida for a layover of 45 minutes. When, the plane flew over a beach and palm trees, we all wished we could step out into the warm Florida air. Instead, Louise started talking to our pilots in the front. Some of us started asking questions about the various buttons and gadgets near the cockpit and the captain invited everyone to look in the cockpit and even sit in the chair. We spent our forty-five minutes chatting with the pilot and taking pictures of everyone in the cockpit.
After a shorter flight, we touched down in Durham to find 39 degree weather and snow on the ground. After we put on our jackets; we soon forgot about the snow and piled into our rental vans to go to Lil and Bill’s house in Wilmington.
Using our great teamwork skills, we pulled together a yummy dinner of pasta and salad then headed off in many directions. Some went grocery shopping, others walked the dog and the few other that stayed home, took care of details – planning for the next day. It’s been a long day but we are ready for our 8-day adventures.
