Sara's Day 1

When we got started we had computer challenges. Here is what Sara had to shre that never got posted.

"Today, most of us had been awake since 4:00am. So when we all got in the van, headed towards Hartford’s airport in Connecticut, there were a lot of tired faces. Thanks to Willy, we got to the airport with plenty of time for our 9:00 flight.

FLIGHT canceled

Yes or flight from Baltimore was canceled. We have a new flight that goes through Tampa again and we hope to be home at the same time. We will call school if anything changes or happens. Thanks for all your support. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Day 7 Cape Fear Coastkeeper

Last night was a exciting night. We went to Lill&Bill's watch the Superball game together. Of course we have Starcie's lovely "Sweet Sixteen" birthday. Devin got the prize for the superball commercial bingo! Then we watched the movie "Up".

We are overtired but still needed to wake up early today!!!

Monday was sunny and cloudy which made a nice day. We went out to meet with the Cape Fear COASTKEEPER Mike Giles and his coworkers. First we picked up trash and little pieces of asphalts from the marsh and inner coastal beach.

Day 6

Today was a lot of fun. The first thing in the morning we went to church. You could choose between two churches, an evangelist and a Presbyterian Church. Since Bill and Lill went to the First Presbytarian Church in Wilmington, some of us went with them.  Others experienced an evangelist or community church that was near the house.  After that some people went shopping and other people played golf, that was fun. Later we went to Bill's and Lill's friend's house to watch the Superbowl, and then just before we went to bed, we watched UP.

day 5

Today was our busiest day so far. We began by waking up early to head back to the Cape Fear River Watch (where we went yesterday) for a pancake breakfast and a seminar on climate change and rising sea levels. After, we also visited Greenfield Lake to board PADDLE BOATS for our birdwatching trip. We observed a variety of species of birds. After eating lunch at the river, we drove to the  North Carolina Beach State Park, where we met Carla Edwards who taught us about carnivorous plants.

Day Four

Today we woke up to a gray sky. Heading down into town, we watched a light drizzle thump against the windshield. The weather predicted a heavy rain for the middle of the day, so we made sure to bring layers of waterproof clothes.

We meet Tom and Kemp at Cape Fear River Watch, a group that recruits volunteers to clean rivers and waterways.  Their primary job though is to educate the public of Wilmington about the importance of keeping the river's in and around the city clean from pollutants.

Our Adventures in North Carolina

North Carolina-

1/29/10 Janet and I are here at school 4ish on Friday. I think all the other teachers have left. I finished making identification cards... well I finished the first step and she said, "Good now you can start our blog." So here I am testing to see how easy it will be to add our adventure to the mighty Compass Web site.
