Here is Homework from 7/8 Humanities class. The most recent assignment is posted first.

 

Thursday, May 16: Spend 30 minutes working on your final project. Remember, next Monday you will have your oral interview about the project. When you come to that meeting, bring your artwork, any articles you used during research, the calendar we've been working on in class for organization, and notes to the oral interview questions. 

 

Tuesday, May 15: Complete the questions from our Organic Goodie simulation today. Also, spend at least 30 minutes working on your final project. 

 

Monday, May 14: Welcome back from Spring trips! For tonight, 7th graders need to start their cover letter drafts. Work on it for at least 20 minutes. 8th graders should begin a draft of their next realm letter. 

 

Tuesday, May 8: Enjoy your spring trip. Over the weekend, please remember to work on your final project for 30 minutes. Be prepared to tell us what you did on your project over the weekend. Also, bring in the next draft of your significant learning, cover letter, or realm letter. 

 

Monday, May 7: Review your notes for the Paddy Tyler Review quiz tomorrow. 

 

Friday, May 4: Everyone spends 30 minutes working on the final project. 7th grade: bring in a rough draft of your significant learning #4 on Monday. 8th grade: bring in a draft of a realm letter. 

 

Thursday, May 3: Spend 25-30 minutes working on your final project. This might look like reading a few more news articles about your current event, reviewing your history notes from class, planning out your artwork, or drafting the essay component of the project. 

 

Wednesday, May 2: Be prepared with great questions for J.T. Rizzo tomorrow. Your homework is to continue thinking of questions to ask the author of Paddy Tyler. Also, spend some time working on your final project. 

 

Tuesday, May 1: Read to p. 167 in Paddy Tyler before Thursday. Please continue to find 4 articles related to your current event. 

 

Monday, April 30: Welcome back from break! Tonight, please ready to p. 146 in Paddy Tyler. Also, be sure you have selected your current event topic for the final project. 

 

Friday, April 20: Enjoy your break! There is no assigned homework. However, please use this time to assess how much work you have left to do on your portfolio and POL or Round Table. 

 

Thursday, April 19: Bring your notes and ideas from today's field trip to class tomorrow. 

 

Wednesday, April 18: Don't forget- tomorrow we will be going on a field trip to Dartmouth. The frescos we will see are directly related to the history we have studied this year. Take notes on the field trip, as we will debrief the paintings on Friday in class. 

 

Monday, April 16: Read to p. 133 in Paddy Tyler before Wednesday, Apr. 18

 

Friday, April 13: Read to p. 109 in Paddy Tyler before Monday. 

 

Thursday, April 12: Study for the vocabulary/spelling review. There will be questions about pronouns, as well as comprehension questions from Paddy Tyler on the test. Please make sure you review your notes from class. 

 

Tuesday, April 10: Read to page 86 in Paddy Tyler before Thursday. 

 

Monday, April 9: Look up the definitions and parts of speech for this week's vocabulary words. Read up to page 57 in Paddy Tyler. 

 

Friday, April 6: Read to page 47 in Paddy Tyler and the Secret of the Stones

 

Thursday, April 5: Be prepared to spell the words of the week tomorrow at the beginning of class. 

 

Tuesday, April 3: Look up the definitions and part of speech for this week's spelling and vocabulary words

 

Thursday, March 29: Remember the goals of this week are: to finalize your significant learning or realm letter AND to get a first draft of your analytic essay written. Homework assignments will vary depending on where you are in the process. If you have questions about what you can do at home to get your work done, you can talk with me in class or via email. 

 

Wednesday, March 21: 7th graders- A new or next draft of your significant learning is due tomorrow. 8th graders- A draft of your first realm letter is due tomorrow. 

 

Monday, March 19: Come to class with your symbol's historical context written down. You may need to do some more research about the symbol and possible connections to the time period in which R.F. Starzl was writing.

 

Thursday, March 15: Study for your vocabulary test. Keep in mind there will be questions about MLA formatting, so study your notes

 

Tuesday, March 13: Write the vocabulary words (spelled correctly!) 5 times each tonight. 7th grade: a draft of your significant learning is due on Thursday. 

 

Monday, March 12: Tonight, everyone should look up the definitions to this week's vocabulary words. Don't forget to write the part of speech, too. 7th graders need to create a list of possible topics for a significant learning. Bring the list tomorrow, because this is also homework. 

 

Friday, March 9: No homework over the weekend. However, if you're a 7th grader you should be getting ready for the next significant learning. You'll be writing one next week for homework, and a draft is due on Thursday, March 15. 

 

Wednesday, March 7: I'm so happy to be starting the SF unit with you all! Please read one of the SF short stories from class and underline or highlight the parts of the story showing science fiction characteristics. This is due tomorrow. 

 

 

Tuesday, February 14: If you didn't hand in a draft today, please keep working on it. Otherwise, you can work on the Hunger Games reading response for extra credit. 

 

Monday, February 13: A first (rough) draft of your persuasive essay is due tomorrow. 

 

Friday, February 10: Great work on your bills! I am very impressed with your work. Now on to the persuasive essay assignment! For Monday, read the assignment sheet and start working on your graphic organizer. A rough draft of the essay is due on Tuesday. 

 

Tuesday, February 7: If you didn't have your bill in class today, finish it for the next class meeting time. 

 

Monday, February 6: Your bill is due tomorrow. Use this form to type it. Here is the check list for how your bill will be graded. 

 

Friday, February 3: Complete the T-Chart for your bill writing assignment. The T-Chart is due on Monday.

 

Thursday, February 2: Today we looked at several bills that have been active in the month of January. Tomorrow we will start the project of writing a bill on a topic discussed in class. If you'd like to get a head start, here is the assignment. There is no other homework. 

 

Tuesday, January 31: Complete the map of the U.S. and find out how many representatives currently represent each state in the House of Representatives. 

 

Monday, January 30: If you're still not finished with the Hunger Games, read at least 20 pages tonight. You must be finished with the book before Thursday, February 2.

Tuesday, December 6: Work on your significant learning. Please use the information under "Presentations of Learning" to be working on the different parts of the presentations. Your final draft of the significant learning is due at the end of advisory time on Wednesday. 

 

Monday, December 5: Bring a topic for your children's book to class tomorrow. Write 5 historical points about your topic. 

Example: Occupy Wall Street

1. The Dutch had colonized New Amsterdam 

2. The location is modern day Manhattan, NYC

3. The Algonquian were living there before the European invasion

4. The Dutch used enslaved Africans to construct a wall to protect their business exchanges

5. The location of the former wall is what causes the modern day "Wall St." to have it's name

6. Corporations became "people" as a result of the 14th amendment, which also gave enslaved Black people the right to life and property.

Tuesday, November 15: There is no homework tonight due to the Compass Open House. However, you can use this time to study for your test on Friday. Here is a copy of the notes from class. 

 

Monday, November 14: Your slogan on a state is due tomorrow. 

 

Tuesday, November 1: Finish making a list of the 50 states. Make sure you match the correct state with the number in the map hand out. Extra credit: Write the capitols for at least 30 states. 

 

Friday, October 28: Do some research to try and figure out what the 99% in the Occupy Wall Street Movement means. Take notes on the information you find, and list any websites or resources that help you. 

 

Thursday, October 27: FInd (and bring to class tomorrow) a news article related to the Occupy Wall Street movement. Make sure your article takes place in the state you chose in class. Note: make sure you know the capital of the state. Can't remember which state you chose? Click here

 

Tuesday, October 25: The next draft (as close to final as possible) is due on Thursday, October 27. 

 

Monday, October 24: A rough draft of your significant learning is due tomorrow. For help in writing this rough draft, please look at this outline. Also, write three words you want to focus on for spelling this week. 

 

Wednesday, October 19: Choose a topic for your first significant learning of the semester. A brainstorm of what you will write about the topic of your choice is due on Monday, October 24. Enjoy your long weekend! 

 

Tuesday, October 18: No homework

 

Monday, October 17: Finish writing 5 definitional statements. Add information from today's class discussion to your work. Your final entry #4 is due tomorrow. 

 

Thursday, October 13: Have at least 3 definitional statements written for entry #4. These definitional statements are due Monday, Oct. 17.

 

Monday-Tuesday, October 10-11: We are having NECAP testing. Therefore, there will be no homework. 

 

Friday, October 7: Mountain Day, no homework. 

 

Thursday, October 6: We started our mock trial today. There is no homework. 

 

Wednesday, October 5: Today was a science day. Be ready for the mock trial tomorrow. 

 

Tuesday, October 4: Prepare for our mock trial on Thursday by reading the handout from class and preparing your defense statement. 

 

Monday, October 3: Finish typing your written reflection from diary Entry 2. This entry is due tomorrow. Also, please be sure you have read up to page 175 in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian for Thursday. 

 

Tuesday, September 27: Pack your bags for the camping trip tonight! Bring the bags with you to school tomorrow. 

 

Monday, September 26: Finish Entry 3 if you haven't yet. Finish writing your first draft of Entry 2 if you haven't yet. 

 

Tuesday, September 20: We will pause our work with Entry 2 for the rest of the week. Finish entry #3 for homework. This is due before our hiking adventure on Friday, Sept. 23.
